Resilience initiatives with respect to operational technology aboard maritime platforms have turned 3 minute maintenance projects handled by two people into 3-week logistical tails involving dozens of contractors. There is good reason for the change from a cyber resiliency perspective but, from a physical resiliency and overall plant performance perspective, it’s not good. This talk covers what happened; alternative, industry standard, approaches; and, how to mathematically solve for optimal plant performance given the resiliency constraint.
